Top Classical CDs on Amazon – 5 Stars – with some lovely Christmas prezzies too!

Hello,

In my attempt to breathe some life into this site, I thought I’d hunt down some Classical CDs which are so very good, they have 4.5 or even 5 Stars, just for you.  And this time of year, you are going to want some presents for your lovely ones.

Here they are :

Classic FM Hall of Fame – The Great Composers

4.5 stars
203 customer reviews

Aaron Copland (Composer), Alexander Porfir’yevich Borodin (Composer), Antonio Vivaldi (Composer), Antonín Dvorák (Composer), & 46 more – that is 46 more composers – who knew there were that many composers ever existing?  Golly.

Les Miserables – Original 1985 Cast

5 stars
359 customer reviews

An who wouldn’t want the Original 1985 Cast? Original is deffo the best, and from sooo long ago (not as long as when the thing was set, but nearly).  Ideal present for the musical fan, who may or may not already have this gem.  Ask and find out before buying, it’s 32 quid.

One Voice At Christmas Aled Jones (Artist, it says)

5 stars
240 customer reviews

Ah, old Snowman himself! And just in time for the Xmas Amazon plunge, it’s so good it does have 5-Stars and only £4.95! Don’t mention that to your giftee, get Amazon to gift wrap it, just in case. I had an interview with an Aled Jones once, not this one, and no mention of the word “Snowman” was allowed in the interview. Don’t know how I contained myself, didn’t get the job, but not sure i could have kept that up for a whole career.

The John Rutter Christmas Album CD

5 stars

“An ideal Christmas CD for the festive season”, says the blurb, an no doubt it is, for Christmas. Ideal. And Mr Rutter is a CBE to boot. Not sure that was to services (ha geddit?) to Christmas music, but he is one of our best loved composers. Actually I’ve just read on his Wikipedia page that his CBE was for Choral music, so that does include them Christmas Carols I’d say. Seems like a nice chap to me. Here are some of his Quotes : https://www.great-quotes.com/quotes/author/John/Rutter to prove it…

The Best Of Flanders & Swann: A Transport Of Delight

5 stars

Mud, Glorious Mud! Yes,this my favourite and I’m going to buy it. This is more classic than Classical, but Amazon seems to think it is, and I quite agree. These two gents are genuinely witty even though they recorded their songs ages and ages ago. They’re still as fresh as a daisy (in summer). They coined the phrase “The Gas Man Cometh” for goodness sake. And they were produced by a George Martin. Lots of fun for your granny, grandpa, ma and pa and kids too.

Hope you liked my little selection, fair enough it wasn’t entirely Classical, but classic, yes.

Let me know, and Happy Christmas, if it’s not too early yet 🙂
